Featured article Are You Ready To Face The Music? By: Pastor Aaron Soto Many years ago, a man pretending to be a flutist conned his way into the orchestra of the emperor of China. Although the imposter could not read or play a single note, he would hold his flute against his lips and pretend to play while not making a sound whenever the musicians gathered to practice or perform. The unsavory man received a modest salary for his charade and enjoyed a comfortable living. One day the emperor requested a solo from each musician. The flutist got nervous - there wasn’t enough time to learn the instrument. He pretended to be sick to avoid the moment of truth, but the royal physician wasn’t fooled. On the day of his solo performance, the impostor took poison and killed himself. The explanation of his suicide led to a phrase that found its way into the English language: "He refused to face the music."
Today, we can pretend to be a part of God’s orchestra by just blending in and going through the motions. We can enjoy the comfort of sitting among true Christians, but there will come a day when we must face the music. No one will be able to call in sick when they are called to stand before the Great Emperor of Eternity and give an account for the true state of their spiritual life.
Since the first sin in the Garden of Eden, men and woman have tried to hide the truth of their sins and shortcomings from God. When will we learn that charades don’t fool God? He will show mercy if we will confess our limitations and ask for his strength. Let us be sincere in worship and prayers unto God today! Let us prepare to face the music! Blessings,
Pastor Soto |
